Zane Trace Standout Signs with Blue Knights
(March 19, 2008) – Urbana University head softball Coach Nicole Pluger is proud to announce the signing of Chillicothe native Tieana Steele. Steele is a senior at Zane Trace High School where she has been a varsity starter on the softball team since her freshman year.
Last season, as a junior, Steele led Zane Trace to the 2007 District finals. She earned first team Scioto Valley Conference accolades and first team all-district honors.
During her freshman campaign of 2005, Zane Trace was the Division III state runners-up. As the starting third baseman, Steele earned first team Scioto Valley Conference and second team all-district honors. In 2006 she followed up her freshman campaign with a stellar sophomore season, once again earning first team all-conference honors, after leading her team to the regional finals.
Steele has also played select softball for seven years, including four years with Ohio Stingrays. Her squads have advanced to six national tournaments.
In addition to her outstanding athletic accomplishments Steele is also a four-year officer of the Zane Trace FFA Chapter, vice president of the Ross County Junior Fair Board, president of the 4-Seasons 4-H Club, plus was awarded the FFA State Degree Award.
Tieana is the daughter of Tony and Kathy Steele of Chillicothe. She intends to major in education at Urbana University.
