Blue Knights Battle Hard; Fall to AMC North Champs
Freshman Cody Meier scores two goals in Urbana's 4-2 setback

URBANA, Ohio (Oct. 18, 2007) – The Blue Knight men's soccer team fought back from a 2-0 halftime deficit to tie Notre Dame College, Thursday at Ellis Field. But two Falcon goals in the 88th and 90th minute sealed the 4-2 win for the American Mideast Conference North Division Champions.

Notre Dame scored early with goals in the 11th and 13th minutes. The Falcons out shot the Blue Knights 8-1 in the first period. Urbana played catch up and went into halftime with the 2-0 deficit. Freshman Cody Meier provided a huge spark for the Urbana offense, scoring his first career collegiate goal, on an assist from Alex Erb in the opening minutes of the second stanza. Meier scored his second goal on a corner kick by Cameron Ferris and on an assist by Nick Kadoves in the 61st minute.

Notre Dame went ahead on a penalty kick after a foul was called in the box. David McCraig put away the goal to give the Falcons (12-2-2) the lead for good. Jared Miller scored another insurance goal less than two minutes later to seal the win.

Urbana (3-9-2) gets back into action this Saturday, Oct. 20 at noon when they play at Shawnee State in an AMC South Division battle.
