Bernard’s Career High Not Enough
Blue Knights fall to Mercyhurst, 83-67
ERIA, Pa. (December 12, 2007) – Blue Knight senior Julian Bernard scored a career high 18 points, but five Lakers scored in double figures as Urbana University fell to Mercyhurst College, 83-67, in a non-conference game Wednesday night at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center.

Bernard shot 6-of-10 from the field, including three treys, plus was 3-of-4 from the free throw line. The game also marked the anticipated start of 7-footer Dorian Hoover. The junior did not disappoint as he scored 13 points, had a team-high six rebounds and six assists, plus one blocked shot. Senior Harold Haynes added 12 points. Senior Joe Williams and junior Charles Jefferson each had seven points and Milt Addison chipped in six points.

Mercyhurst (5-5) had a slight edge on the boards, out rebounding the Blue Knights, 29-28. Urbana struggled with 18 turnovers, to the Lakers’ eight. MC capitalized, scoring 23 points off of turnovers. The Lakers took 67 shots, compared to Urbana’s 47 attempts.

Urbana shot a season-best 51.1 percent from the field (24-of-47), including another season-best 50 percent from behind the arc (6-of-12). The Blue Knights also had their best outing from the free throw line this season, hitting 13-of-17 for 76.5 percent.

The Blue Knights will return following the holiday break when they travel to New York to take on Daemen College on Friday, Jan. 4 at 7:30 p.m. Urbana won’t return to the friendly confines of the Grimes Center until Tuesday, Jan. 15 when they host Cedarville at 7:30 p.m
