Davis Signs with IBL's Holland Blast
(Feb. 14, 2008) -- Former Urbana University basketball standout and 2006 graduate Antonio Davis signed with the International Basketball League’s (IBL) Holland Blast in Holland, Mich.

According to usbasket.com the 6-foot-6 Davis is expected to play a featured role for the Blast along side point guard, Dennis Springs (Ferris State). The web site also stated “The expectations are for Davis to continue putting up numbers en route to a prosperous professional playing career. This versatile talent is equally effective at either the 2 or 3 position with the ability to slide to a point or 4-man spot in a pinch.”

“It feels good to have another opportunity to showcase my skills,” said Davis. “It’s another great opportunity for me to play professional basketball.”

Davis, a first-team all-American in 2006, hopes to take advantage of playing basketball abroad during the overseas season.

Davis was named the 2005-06 AMC South Division Player of the Year when he exploded for 22.4 ppg and 8.2 rpg his senior season. He averaged 12.8 points a game during his first three seasons as a Blue Knight.

Davis led the AMC in conference scoring with 25.7 ppg and was sixth in rebounding his senior year. He was twice named AMC Player of the Week, and also earned Regional and NAIA National Player of the Week honors when he averaged 32.5 points and 12 rebounds per game while leading the Blue Knights to a pair of victories. Davis poured in a career-high 36 points to go along with 11 rebounds in a 91-84 win versus Shawnee State (Ohio).
