Blue Knights Hand No. 2 Walsh First AMC Loss
Urbana stuns Cavaliers, 70-64
NORTH CANTON, Ohio (Jan. 22, 2008) – Blue Knight juniors Dorian Hoover and David Brown each posted 17 points in Urbana University’s 70-64 upset of NAIA No. 2 Walsh Tuesday night. Urbana (4-14, 2-3 AMC S) snapped the Cavaliers’ (15-3, 4-1 AMC S) 21-game home winning streak gave Walsh its first American Mideast Conference South Division loss.

Urbana set the tone early in the second half, as Brown notched back-to-back steals (he finished the night with a game-high five steals). His steal and jumper just 22 seconds into the second half, gave Urbana the lead for good.

Walsh rallied, and cut the lead to one point at 53-52 with 6:30 to play and to three points at 60-57 with 4:03 to play. Each time the Blue Knights responded with a counterattack.  After the Cavs trimmed the lead to 53-52, Hoover banked in a three-ball from the top of the key to give the Blue Knights a 56-52 lead.

Urbana turned the ball over 12 times, compared to Walsh’s 20. The Blue Knights capitalized, scoring 25 points off turnovers. Urbana also shot well from the field, hitting 56.6 percent of its shots, a season-high for the Blue Knights.

Senior Allen Drake had a solid outing with 12 points and two assists. Junior Chuck Jefferson also played well, scoring 11 points and dishing three assists.

Urbana has little time to celebrate. The Blue Knights take on NAIA No. 5 Mount Vernon this Saturday, Jan. 26 at 7:30 p.m.
