Blue Knights Place Third at Urbana Invite
Vanover and Heskett tie for seventh
CABLE, Ohio (Sept. 14, 2007) – The Blue Knight men’s golf team placed third at the Urbana University Fall Invitational held at Woodland Golf Club. Urbana posted a team score of 462, just six strokes off of second-place Cedarville University which had 456. Owens Community College won the event with a team score of 446 and took the top two spots of the tournament with Jason Smith and Jimmy Bell both shooting a 110. Urbana was led by Kyle Vanover and Andy Heskett who tied for seventh after carding 114s. Seth Reynolds posted a 117 for the Blue Knights.

“We had some great scores by our returning players who really stepped up," said Urbana Univeristy Head Men's Golf Coach Scott Knick. "Andy shot his Urbana personal best with the 75. The 35 (one under) is very impressive. It was a great nine holes for him. He matched our No. 1 which I was pleased with. He is playing amazingly better.

"Seth's 77 is extremely impressive. He really stepped up to the plate and is really competing well," added Knick. "Kyle was consistent with 38s."

Newcomers Chad Garberich had a 121 and Brian Effingham carded a 122 to round out Urbana’s top five.

"I was very impressed with Brian’s play. He shot 42, 41 then 39," said Knick. "As a freshman and in his first collegiate tournament, that’s great.

"Chad shot a 78 and I’m looking for more him to improve with each tournament," added Knick. " He has a lot of potential and he will make an impact in the future for the Blue Knights."

The Blue Knights play in the St. Francis, Ind. Invitational this Sunday.
