Three Blue Knights Earn NAIA Scholar-Athlete Honors
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Dec. 17, 2007) – The 2007 Football Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes were announced today with 232 student-athletes receiving the distinction.
Urbana University had three representatives on the national academic honor role. Junior offensive lineman Robert Colpoys of Niagara Falls, N.Y., junior fullback Ross Raubenolt of Loudonville, Ohio, and fifth-year senior linebacker Kevin Weber of Orchard Park, N.Y., each earned the honor to be named NAIA Scholar Athletes.
Weber, a business major, is a three-time winner of the award and was a 2007 semifinalist for the prestigious Draddy Award, also known as the “academic Heisman.” Colpoys, chemistry major, and Raubenolt, business marketing major, are both first-time recipients.
The Blue Knights have had at least one player named an NAIA Scholar-Athlete every year since 2002.
In order to be a recipient of the NAIA-Daktronics Scholar-Athlete award, one must fulfill all these requirements: the recipient must be a junior or above in academic standing; has been in attendance at the nominating institution a minimum of one full year of attendance; has a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.50 (on a 4.0 scale) at the time of nomination at the nominating institution and has been certified as eligible.
