Urbana Football Cracks NAIA Top 25 and VSN Polls
Blue Knights jump another six spots in Don Hansen poll
URBANA, Ohio (Oct. 2, 2007) – The Blue Knight football team keeps winning and in turn has cracked the NAIA Top 25 Poll for the first time this year. With 55 votes Urbana is ranked 24th in the fourth rating this season. Urbana (4-1, 1-0 MSFA Mideast Division) received votes in the last two polls and finally, after a 51-6 win over Taylor in their MSFA opener, the Blue Knights broke into the top 25.
Urbana also jumped into the Victory Sports Network ranking by Jason Dannelly, who put the Knights at 25th.
Urbana, which was ranked 40th in the Don Hansen National Weekly Gazette preseason poll, has jumped all the way to 17th in the most recent rating.
The Blue Knights’ next five opponents are ranked in the NAIA Top 25 and are all in the MSFA Mideast division. Urbana hosts Walsh (3-2 and ranked No. 15) this Saturday at Ellis Field for a 2 p.m. kickoff. The game is part of Urbana's homecoming weekend festivities.
Urbana then travels to No. 2 St. Xavier, Ill. on Oct. 13; hosts No. 19 Malone on Oct. 20; travels to No. 6 St. Francis, Ind. on Oct. 27; and hosts No. 4 Ohio Dominican on Nov. 3.
