Blue Knights Split with Crusaders
URBANA, Ohio (April 27, 2008) – The Blue Knights dropped their first game to Capital University, 8-4, but bounced back with a 13-8 win to split a non-conference baseball doubleheader against the visiting Crusaders Sunday.
Urbana (24-16) mustered just six hits and also had two errors, while Capital (10-24-1) had 12 hits and no errors. The Crusaders built a 7-3 lead with three runs in the fourth and another four in the fifth. Junior Russ Chambers, pinch-hitting in the seventh, provided a solo homerun for the Blue Knights. Senior John Lindquist and junior Steve Froese both doubled in the contest.
In game two, the Blue Knights had no trouble making solid contact, tallying 17 hits. They started strong with four runs in the first and closed out the game with a six-run sixth inning. Junior Matt Netherly (3-for-5), sophomore Andrew Harrell (3-for-4 and three runs scored), freshman Zach Roll (1-for-2) and Froese (2-for-3, including a triple and three runs scored) each provided 2 RBI for the Blue Knights.
Urbana, currently in third place in the American Mideast Conference standings, hosts Cedarville in a key AMC doubleheader Monday, April 28 at 2 p.m.
