Urbana Picks up Two Non-Conference Ws
Blue Knights take out Ohio Christian and Miami-Middletown
URBANA, Ohio (April 9, 2008) – Urbana picked up a pair of wins Wednesday at Blue Knight Field with a 5-0 shutout against Ohio Christian College in game one, and a 15-5 run-rule of Miami University-Middletown in the night cap.
Junior Nathan Stull struck out seven Trailblazers in game one in five innings of work and gave up just one hit. Fellow junior Troy Mercer struck out one and gave up no hits to earn the save. Senior John Lindquist and sophomore Andrew Harrell paced the Blue Knights at the plate, both going 2-for-3 with a double. Harrell also had two stolen bases. Junior Steve Froese had a stand-up triple for the Blue Knights.
In game two, Miami-Middletown gave Urbana a little scare, as the score was tied 1-1 after the first inning. The Blue Knights responded with five runs in the second and nine runs in the third. Sophomore Owen Donelon (pictured left) had a hot bat for Urbana, going 3-for-3 with homerun and three RBI. Junior Russ Chambers was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI. Senior Mike Heck and sophomore Kris Nealeigh both cranked out triples. Freshman Stefan Alinkas (1-0) picked up the win, striking out one and giving up no earned runs.
Urbana plays at Cedarville University at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 11 in an American Mideast Conference doubleheader. The Blue Knights then host the Yellow Jackets on Saturday, April 12 at 1 p.m. in another AMC doubleheader.
