Blue Knights Fall Short In Last 3 Games
CLEARWATER, FL (March 5, 2008)—The Urbana University baseball team got a big win in their first game of the Baseball Academy Invitational but fell short in the next three dropping games to Northwestern, Hannibal-LaGrange, and Evangel.
In the game against Northwestern, the Blue Knights fell 5-9 as Jaeson Hudnall(1-1) took the loss on the mound. Jordan Baker led the offensive attack going 2-4 at the plate with three RBIs. [UU-NW Stats]
Urbana dropped their first game on Tuesday to Hannibal-LaGrange, 4-7. The Blue Knights grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the first and carried it until Hannibal-LaGrange posted two in the fifth and five more in the sixth. Urbana tried to answer with three more in the top of the seventh but it wasn’t enough. Cody Lawhorn (0-1) was credited with the loss after allowing four hits. Baker again led the offense along with John Lindquist as they both added two RBIs. Baker went 3-4 at the plate while Lindquist went 1-3, each with a double. [UU-HL Stats]
In the second game on Tuesday, the Blue Knights held a 3-1 lead for most of the game until Evangel posted four runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the game, 3-5. Shane Pfouts (0-1) took the loss for Urbana while Kris Nealeigh and Lindquist each added an RBI. Baker went 2-4 at the plate with a two-bagger while Mike Heck was 2-2. [UU-Evangel Stats]
The Blue Knights will play three more games in Florida. They will take on Northwestern again today at 12:15 pm before playing Trinity International tomorrow at 3 p.m. and finishing up the week against Robert Morris on Friday. They will then enter into the tournaments championship round on Saturday.
