University Athletic Training

2008 Urbana University Athletic Training"Gauntlet".
A test and challenge of athletic training skills and knowledge.
The
Urbana University Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP)
is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). The
ATEP at Urbana University
combines classroom education with clinical field experience
to prepare students for a career in the allied health profession
of athletic training. Field
experience settings include: Urbana
University athletic training room, local high schools and
sports medicine facilities, Wittenberg University, and a
variety of allied health professions. Clinical
field experience is tied into a series of practicum courses
with students taking one practicum course per semester.
Students
graduating from a CAATE accredited athletic training program
qualify to sit for the Board of Certification Exam (BOC). Students who pass the
BOC exam and state licensure requirements will qualify for employment as athletic trainers
for secondary schools, junior colleges, four year colleges
and universities, professional sports organizations, sports
medicine clinics, health clubs, and industrial settings. Graduates
are also able to pursue graduate level degrees in fields such
as athletic training, exercise physiology, and other allied
health fields.
