About Urbana

Founded in 1850, Urbana University offers a traditional liberal arts education in a small college environment, emphasizing student learning through individual attention, excellence in instruction, career-oriented academic programs, and critical reflection on ethics and values.

Urbana is a private, not-for-profit institution located in Urbana, Ohio, on a campus that is small enough to foster close connections between faculty and students, and large enough to provide cutting-edge programs. It was the second institution of higher education in Ohio to admit women and the first in the state to offer a nontraditional degree completion program.

Our vibrant 128-acre campus in west central Ohio is a blend of modern and traditional architecture. Our campus is situated in a small town with the convenience of being less than an hour from the major metropolitan areas of Columbus and Dayton.

Urbana University students are a diverse group who hail from Ohio, the Midwest, and countries around the world.
