Scholarly Activities for Students
In addition to the Academic Rigor of the Athletic Training Education Program, we also provide several external opportunities for our students to expand their knowledge of the profession as well as the opportunity to network with potential employers. These opportunities include attending the Ohio Athletic Trainers Association Student Symposium and Quiz Bowl, the OATA Annual Meeting, and the National Athletic Trainers Annual Convention. The students are also exposed to monthly seminars and presentations by our team physicians and medical director Dr. Eric Fester.
As an extension of the classroom the Athletic Training Education Program at Urbana University offers a variety of clinical experiences, with clinical instructors who each have over 10 years of experience in the Athletic Training Field. The sites include Urbana University, Wittenberg University, University of Alaska Fairbanks, Urbana High School, Springfield High School, Clark Shawnee High School, West Liberty Salem High School, Springfield Orthopedics, and Springfield Center for Family Medicine, and Excel Physical Therapy. Having exposure to/experience with these clinical sites also provides the students the opportunity to apply for internships with Professional Sports Organizations.
