STUDENT SCHEDULE
Students will have the opportunity to meet other students and upperclass U-Team Leaders during Summer Orientation. You will be doing many of the following items in smaller groups at various times, so it is important to plan on being at Summer Orientation from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Fall Course Registration
You will meet with an academic advisor from your chosen program of study to go over required courses, complete your course registration for fall semester, and have any academic or course questions answered. Your courses will be pre-assigned based on reponses to your pre-registration worksheet and availability of classes.
Student Service Issues
You will have your University ID photo taken, learn about parking and student life policies, and assure that all paperwork needed by Student Health Services is complete. If you plan to live on campus (required of all students living further than 35 miles from campus), assure that your housing application is complete so that room assignments may be made. Also, you will receive your KnightNet account login information to access your University email account and online course materials.
Faculty Perspective
During this session, you will meet with faculty who will share information and answer your questions regarding real expectations of college classrooms. This is a highly rated session by past participants and you won't want to miss it!
U-Team Meetings
Your U-Team meeting will be a chance to get to know other students. Your U-Team Leaders will also be addressing some common concerns about college life with you. You will take time to become better acquainted with campus and learn a little about your financial investment in Urbana University.
FAMILY SCHEDULE
Families are important to Urbana University and provide great support for students! Therefore, we have created an orientation session specifically for you! After a welcome and some fun, you will begin your own schedule while your student will have a schedule of his or her own.
Academic & Student Life
Learn about Urbana University's academic and student life programs, policies, and expectations from two members of our Administrative Council. This will also be a great opportunity to find out where Urbana University is headed over the next several years, while your son or daughter is attending.
Interest Sessions
Parents have many questions and we will have individuals available to answer your questions! You will be able to choose from four different interest sessions:
- Academic Support Programs
- Expectations of Student-Athletes
- Health Services
- Parenting Your College Student
- Student Financial Services
- Student Life Panel
Resource Fair
At the end of the day, you will be able to reconnect with your student. We will have campus offices and community resources available to you to have any final questions answered. Before leaving, be sure to grab a root beer float!
TRANSFER SCHEDULE
Because transfer students have a sense of college life and the expectations of college classrooms, your orientation is not as involved, but still important. You will have the opportunity to meet with an academic advisor to plan your fall class schedule, have financial aid questions answered, and complete paperwork for Residence Life and Student Health Services. You can expect to finish your orientation session no later than 12:00 noon.
