How to Apply – Center for Adult and Professional Studies

Degree programs at Urbana University’s Center for Adult and Professional Studies are designed to meet the needs of working adults, with accelerated course delivery formats and practical professional information in each course. All of our programs have somewhat different admissions requirements, which are outlined below.

Please note that every CAPS program requires you to have some past college experience. In general, we will only consider applicants whose past college coursework:

  • Was completed at a regionally accredited college or university
  • Earned a grade of “C” or better

When applying, you must send written requests to your past college(s) and have them submit official transcripts to Urbana to prove you meet the requirements of your degree program. If you are applying for a bachelor degree completion program and did not earn an associate’s degree, you will also need to send an official high school transcript.

Provisional Admission

Sometimes students who do not meet every requirement for admission are accepted on a provisional basis—for example, we may admit a prospective MBA student whose undergraduate GPA was slightly lower than required, but who has an exceptional score, references, and career record.

Provisional admission is at the discretion of each program’s administrators. Contact an admissions advisor for more information before you apply.
